Mid-body Ovulation at it;'s best!

anthony james mc Mar 22, 2006 10:18 AM

The first pic was taken about a week ago , she was starting to look "thick" then, today's pic is a good example of what you may expect to see during the peak of actual ovulation.. This particular female was bred to a proven Het Ivory male so the cross here may be very interesting as this female looks alot like some of the other proven co-dom morphs out there (Fires, and Vanilla lines), she is unproven so far so time will tell, this will be her first sucessful clutch if all goes well... Note , the pictures loaded in the opposite order so the bottom pic is the first pic and the top pic was the pic taken today, I guess it posts them alphabetically instead of the order you actually click on them...

That's great hope you can prove her out. Please post pics of any unique babies from her. I am breeding a yellow belly poss het ghost to a possible fire(unproven). Keeping my fingers crossed. Would be great to have some pics of your babies for future comparison, maybe we will produce similar offspring. Keep us posted. Good luck, Jon

So ovulation pretty much looks like she's had a big meal? My female has had three clutches so far, but I can't seem to catch her ovulating.

Yes it looks like they just ate a retired rat , they almost look bloated in the mid section of their bodies like a dead animal on the highway does a day after dying.. I actually catch about 80% of my females ovulating probably because I am here all the time to check on them as it only lasts about 24-30 hours so if your not checking on them all the time you may easily miss seeing it... The times that I either don't see any ovulation or a small ovulation swelling seem to produce the clutches that I have the most infertiles/slugs in as well, maybe that is a coincidence but regardless it seems to be a consistant pattern that I have noticed.. This female laid only slugs for me last year , her ovulation was very small , this year it was huge so we shall see it my theory stands true in about 6-7 more weeks.. I will let you know what the babies turn out like as well if all goes well, I think the cross here my be very cool , she is very bright yellow and a YB with that coloration mixed into it would be very nice I think...
