is the ivy you have real of silk? Ivy is a toxic plant and should not be used in a veiled setup.

Thanks Lele ! He is 4 months old . The ivy is silk so he should be ok with it for a couple more months , then it gets taken out . I dont want to have to worry that he might take a bite out of it , so to ease my mind its gone @ 6 months . He's my little trooper . He's made it through my terrible worry that he was going to drop dead out of nowhere . LOL !! I am really bad about worrying about him ! Hehe !

I had a silk pothos vine in Luna's cage from 6 months on (once moved to her big cage) and she never even attempted to bite it, but would occasionally the live one. I had a jungle gym set up for her from hooks on the ceiling and I used the silk vine to tie to it when I opened her door to let her out to roam (a live one never would have survived that! It was also a favorite sleep plant of her's, I think b/c she was able to be perfectly vertical which seemed to be her preferred position. I wouldn't worry too much about the silk plants. The plastic, though can cut if there are any rough edges.

Lele do you have pics of the jungle gym ? I am looking for something like this for Bender . He wants more room to roam around in and I think that would be the perfect thing . Also , where did you let your cham roam ? I am scared to do that with mine . I am afraid he will fall or something and get hurt .

Hi Joe,

I just uploaded the pics I have to my webshots page (see below). I used sash cord and plastic vines hung from hooks in the ceiling. When she was young she wandered the whole thing, but as she got older she would usually just go straight to the window.

I was careful that htere was no place she could stretch to that would be unsafe, basically she was stranded on the gym. The only place she could have gone was on top of her cage, but she never once went in that direction when she came out of the cage. It worked out great and looked forward to setting up a new one for Cyrus once he is bigger.

here's the link. if you look at her other albums I have pics of her on the gym. A few years ago there was someone here who had one and gave me the idea, they used bungie cords.

it's fun to do! just be sure to stand back every now and again and make sure there are no bookcases, plants, closet doors, etc. that he can get onto. Actually, if she was happily out and I needed to leave the house for awhile I undid the extension to her cage so she truly was trapped and the only way off would be to fall or jump, which she would not do. I did this rarely and not for long, but she was usually way up to the window just hanging. One night when she was still sort of young she fell asleep on it and I let her stay there! It was a mini-version

Oh yeah , he is a cutie isn't he ? When I got him , he was 8 wks old and the cutest thing I had ever seen ! Just a little 3 inch tyke ! He is very friendly if you go slow with your movements around him . I got lucky with him ! He does hiss some but never bites . I have him totally spoiled . He even begs for crix now . He comes over to the corner of the cage where the computer desk is and just stares at me until I give in ! LOL !

You know, I think if you move real slow they tend to trust you more.... Stitch is spoiled too, only he doesn't want food.. he wants out!! When I get home from work and he see's me walk in his room, he heads for the corner of his cage.. the one that opens! LOL, then I let him out and he climbs up the branch and hangs out until bed time!

When I get him out for cleaning time this weekend I will try and get some good pics to share . He isn't afraid of the camera at all . He is a little ham !
