Handling question

jakeyjakers Jul 28, 2003 06:44 PM

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions about handling an iguana that comes from a house where it was rarely handled. It is untrusting of humans, and very skittish. Unfortunately, he's not a little hatchling, so handling him is a bit more dangerous.

I would first just talk to him alot. As you go by him, as you feed him, etc. then work up to maybe just some nice pets along his back. I would keep doing this until he seems a little more at ease before trying to pick him up.

Mine also likes it when I give her a warm bath and using a large cup, I scoop and pour the water down her back. She loves it

good luck! Sorry can't be of much more help!

This page has a LOT of information on it! Check out the section on handling. They also have a good message board.
