What kind of incubators are you using?

SnakeBiteJunkies Mar 22, 2006 05:56 PM

I'm interested in purchasing a good (small) incubator. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

I have two of the safety hatch incubators from Big Apple, with helix dbs-1000 thermostats. I have hatched out alot of snakes in these and would recommend it to anyone. I also turned an interior closet in my snake room into an incubator. I breed retics also and they take up alot of egg space. Hope I could help. Jon

I have built several of these incubators, I use old upright freezers. They work really well. Here are some photo's of a few I have built. Thanks david

I built this one for Terry Heuring owner of Dixie Reptile Shows. It's a good bit of work but they end up looking pretty good. Here are a few photo's. Thanks David

If so, What brand and where do you get them?

I've built a small incubator I keep trying to calibrate. I need a small fan. I bought a PC fan and couldn't figure out how to wire it up to 110V. So I bought a 110v small fan at Radio shack (Only one they had~ was $25 and I had to wire my own cord onto it)~ well........it works fine while the door is open~ but shuts down once the incubator is closed and up to temp. I assume it is overheating as it begins to work again if I open the door and let some cool air on it. Overheating at 90F?! Maybe combined with the humidity?

I stole a slightly larger desk fan off my sons desk~ It does EXACTLY the same thing the $25 Radio shack one does!!

I get the fans at a electric hardware place. Its a place where you buy electronics. Most cities should have them. Thanks david
