Cold Tolerance of Bearded Dragons

R_AK47 Mar 22, 2006 10:12 PM

How cold tolerant are bearded dragons? I know what ambient and basking temperatures they require, but am wondering how cold tolerant in the event of an emergency. What is the lowest possible temperature that a bearded dragon can handle and how long can they survive at that temperature.

Not 100% positive but I wouldn't recommend exposing them to temperatures below 60F.

I am wouldn't go below 50F. My dragons are exposed to temps in the high 50s to low 60s in the winter (when its night time). And they are just fine.

I have been told that the australian dessert can drop to the 40s...and they seem to be doing ok there too.

Back in my old house I had them in a custom shed that was built out like a room with heat/air. One cold night though my heater broke when I went out in the morning to check on everyone it was 45 degrees in the shed. The beardies made it through fine though I would never recommend letting them get that cold but I did lose one of my geckos because of it
