No expert but...
I say keep the pair together... if he was all over her then things had to be right... if she's interested/ready it'll happen! just keep the pair together leave them over night if you're confident enough... My Goini pair locked up every time i wasn't looking (guess they thought i was being a pervert?) ... i observed 3 copulations & each of them were 3days apart, and i kept them together for about 2 weeks.

They were doing all the right things. Why did you seperate them? You are going to miss your window.

I put my pair of kings together twice 3 days apart this month. Both times the male immediately got on my female, and my female usually starts to twitch once she's in his cage. He seems to like her movements.

The second time, however, my female didn't want anything to do with my male, and she was bucking him off of her, but but he stayed persistant, and after about an hour of tail writhing, and a firm bite on her neck, they hooked up for a few hours...

So basically, I'd just give them some time together.... and they'll prolly do their thing.

the above post everything sounds like it was going right maybe should have left them together a little bit longer.

I know some breeders usually place the male into the females cage. Sometimes keeping the post brumation shed from the male then placing it into the females cage might make her more receptive when you actually place them together. Putting them together before the post brumation shed might help the female ovulate, then after the shed she should be at her most fertile time. you know there's lots of proven ways to get kings breeding. maybe sticking to the ones that have proven more successful for the larger commercial breeder would be beneficial. One thing i've noticed that some king breeders will keep the pair together for about a month,a few days at a time, with short breaks in between. Not all kings are aggressive breeders so it might take time for your male to get his groove on. though i've seen plenty of males once placed with the female just plain beat her up. the male will start biting them all over and pinning them against the side of the cage. You'll know when the female is receptive by her lifting the base of her tail to expose her vent when the male is in with her. I think everyone would agree you need to keep them together longer. i hope this helps. good luck.

I put snakes together and as long as the male is interested I leave them together. It is very common for me to put a pair together and I walk in to my room the next day and they are copulating.

You should just leave them together, in my opinion.
