I'm thinking about selling my boa and was wondering which shipping service anyone reccomends.
I have had the best experience with Fed Ex, but you are supposed to be verified to ship snakes. And I believe that goes for all couriers that will ship snakes. If you want to do it legally
Didn't know that, thanks a lot.
what does verified mean?
I was wondering that myself. What exactly is verified and how do I get verification?
They seem to think that the words "This side up" and "handle with care" are just suggestions and don't really need to be followed.
fedex is best. ups couldnt find their next door neighbor and dhl will deliver when they get around to it.

I have shipped with fex ex and ups and have also had snakes shipped to me with both companies, and i have never had any problems with either of them. both showed up when they were supposed to and the boxes were both in perfect shape.
well I had a snake shipped via ups that got dropped off at another house on a different street with no signature received because the driver didnt feel like getting directions. We have all received animals through these carriers thatarrived healthy and on time, but just one mistake is enough to get me to switch to another delivery service.they may have only made one mistake with me, but just think how many other "first mistakes" the company has done.

You can set up an account with FedEx and by jumping through a few hoops they will let you ship snakes. Another option is an airline carrier like Delta Dash. Delta dash is a bit pricey but they are reliable and legal. The United States Post Office does not ship snakes and neither does UPS. People do ship with these entities but it is apparently illegal. From what I understand the LACY ACT (legislation) requires packages to be clearly labeled as to its contents, regardless of which carrier you decide to use. Failure to follow legislation on this is illegal at the federal level. There are other laws that also deal with shipping fraud so it is not just a matter of violating a particular company’s policy it is an issue of federal legislation. Consider the consequences if the package is lost or damaged and mislabeled as well.
Since you have just one animal to sell I believe your best bet is probably Delta Dash. There is also a Shipping forum here on kingsnake.com with some useful information about packaging and shipping.
Delta requires you to become a verified shipper and commit to 6 shipments in the first 6 months. I have gone that route, not hard to get verified and the shipments are a bit pricey but they do get there the same day. For me being west coast, I have to get to shipping office very early and have few options for flights.
I also ship most shipments via DHL, had a couple not arrive next day, , arrived second day. VERY important to ship as though it will be delayed. I always check temps not only at arrival location but also in Ohio, the DHL sort location. That and long lasting heat packs / cool packs as equired.

I did not know that about Delta Dash. I have only received shipments from them. I have to date had three shipments sent to me via DHL and every one of them ended up at an address down the street. The packages were clearly labeled as to the correct address. I filed complaints with them about it but found them less that helpful.
