Question: When you pair up male and female Gilas for breeding and house them together for a couple of weeks what do you do about feeding? Do you separate and feed or do you feed before pairing and not until after? Also I have a male (sexed by ultrasound)on loan for breeding that is an '02 but is smaller than my females. What are my chances of breeding? Any tips for preparation would be helpful.

Well I would feed before introducing them for sure. Gilas can easily go without feeding for 2 weeks. In the wild it is believed Gilas feed in early spring for 1-3 month time period before mating and that is it. As far as the male being smaller than your females that is kind of odd but if he is an 02 he should be more than ready to go!

Good luck and keep us posted!!
