Red Niger Uro

HELP!!!!!!
I just went into the room where my lizards are and my female uro has laid 13 eggs!!!!!!
They were scattered all over so I did get a plastic container
put sand in it and place the eggs in the container.
There is a pink color under the shell which I do know it means they are fertile but only a few of the eggs have a firm shell most are very soft. What do I do to get the eggs to possibly hatch???????? Oh I did leave the eggs in the tank with the uro's. I have it walled off so they cannot get to it. What should I do??????
Please help me someone. I have had my male uro for 2 years now and we just got the female in Sept of last year.
Thank you
Chris

Chris,

I hate to say this but the chance of these eggs hatching out is probably slim. There are plenty of people who have a difficult time incubating geyri eggs when they have the incubator and equipment all set up and ready to go.

If you wanted to try to salvage the eggs- you would need something to store them in, something to provide a constant regulated source of heat, and moisture. There are various techinques you might try including the use of a makeshift cooler/incubator or aquarium/suspended incubator. I would suggest searching the internet for details.

My suggestion for you- focus on the female. Oviposition is extremely difficult on these animals and the fact that this is a geyri and new to you (6 months) means that you will have some work on your hands just getting her back to health. I would suggest offering a shallow water dish during the day today and tomorrow and really pushing (offering repeatedly) moist fresh greens. Some of my geyri will drink right after oviposition and several will drink in the weeks before. I would recommend a supplement (sparingly of course) several times in this next week- preferably one with calcium and d3.
