Can a baby cham shed without me noticing

nymph Mar 23, 2006 11:09 AM

I think Nigel shed and I didn't notice. I think he did it while I was not home. Can that happen or would I definately see it??? I am at my mothers house a few days a week most of the day, so she gets time with the baby, and my hubby stops by there after work to take careof the critters. Anyway wouldn't one of us have noticed??? Thanks.

Is there any particular reason why you think he shed; brighter color perhaps? Believe it or not, Baby veileds are known to eat their shed skin, although I have never witnessed this myself.

Also, depending on the amount of foliage in your enclosure, the shed skin may not be visible. It only takes a couple of hours to a couple of days for a baby veiled to successfully shed it's skin, and I think this may be the case.

I know that when I'm gone, both my chameleons ALWAYS seem to shed.

Nice pic!! Great color. I am jealous of everyone with thier beautiful panthers!!! Anyway, I think so because he looked smoother. Not as rough. Not sure, but I have not seen him shed, and he is about 7 weeks, and I have had him for almost 4 and have not once seen him shed!!!

Cyrus shed on his 3 month birthday and he was done before lights out! If Nigel is eating & pooping then he is growing, which means he is shedding. When they reach adulthood the can takes days and days and shed in patches. Darwin (my beardie) has had shed on his head and three legs for about 3 weeks! It is FINALLY pulling away on his head. Poor guy. I bathe him daily to make sure his skin is good and moist. This is his fisr shed since September - I keep kidding him and saying that only 3 legs and his head have grown! lol!!
