Incubators? (more)...

SnakeBiteJunkies Mar 23, 2006 12:20 PM

What type of incubators are you all using? I'm tired of my Hovabator. Although it has successfully worked for me for many years, hatching out everything from desert tortoises, various kingsnakes and pythons, I need to upgrade. Any recommendations? Thanks.

with an old fridge. i used the heating element from my hovabator (with a fan). i mounted that to the top directly below that on a shelf i put a large dish of water. i also put a small heat pad with another pan of water on the bottom(this also is ran thru the thermostat....and might be overkill). i had a glass company cut all the shelves for me. i removed the wafer thermostat and plug the element into a helix pulse thermostat. i drilled 3 holes in the side and put a small piece of tubing in each, then siliconed the edges. the thermostat probe goes thru one of these holes. the other two holes (one high one low) are for a small constant flow of air. it holds the temps awesome and has been used to hatch out pythons so far. it took a few hours total to build. heres a pic. thanks for looking, john yocum
