Well good new I think. I put on one of my old structure fire fighting gloves this morning and reached in and tried to get a finger around Spirit, very hard, she started moving away from me so I reached in with my other “Naked” hand and got the back half of her, picked her up far enough to get her in the glove and then lifted her out of the enclosure. She immediately started wrapping around my hand and fingers but not one hiss or strike or anything that would seem threatening to me. The strangest part about it is how when I first reached in she tried to move away rather than coil up like she dose normally when I open the enclosure. This is good however as it allowed me to pick her up slightly and place her in the glove and not risk a bite. I guess we will do it this way for a while until she gets use to me reaching in the enclosure. Thanks for all the help everyone.

i have been reading your other post, but did not reply because my way to go about this is very similar to john l who already posted in detail.
in my eyes this is a good step in the right direction. i would continue at this step for a good while, and then just try workign without the glove (unless you want it for other reasons that others have posted about).
i had a big feeling that pinning her head down and restraining her had been the cause of her attitude (or atleast contributed). if i were to try to explain things, i would think she has accepted your dominence from when you used to restrain her. but at this point things seem good so keep working and she will come around sooner or later.

That's great! Congrats. I forgot to say when I responded not to grab the head anymore too, it will only make your snake afraid. Hopefully now you have gone over a hurdle things will smooth out. Please read my post on handling her more often too.

Thanks for the replys. I absolutly hated pinning her down just to pick her up. I could not see how this could ever help. I dont think this is what caused her agresion however, She was listed at the pet store for $150, They said I could have her for $90 if I took her out of the cage. When I questioned this they said in the few weeks before I got her she had goten rather nippy. I would imagine it was from kids and uneducated adults taping on the cage or doing other stuff to her. I tryed to pick her up agan today and she got very defencive., I moved my hand away and used my hook to lift her body a little then picked her right up with no strikes. Hopefully this agresion will end soon. I absolutly hate geting bit. The last snake to bite me was my old 10.5 foot Burmease Pyuthon 11 years ago. I would liek to keep my 11 year no bite record
