Granite colors as they mature

coyotethug Mar 23, 2006 08:02 PM

I just got a granite male today. It has been some time since I was in the burmese loop, since a two day power outage in winter in Michigan 8 years ago wiped out my burms, boa, and ball python. I am now a teacher in southern Louisiana and I have a bunch of herps and amphibs in my class. I decided I wanted a big snake now that I can afford a proper cage and everything, so I decided on a granite burmese male. At least the male won't get 20 ft, 15 is much more managable.

Anyways, when I got him today I noticed he is very light colored. He is about 5.5 ft long now with a very light cream colored head and cream colored base with dark khaki colored spots. When I see pics they always have darker brown spots on a tan base. Is it possible that it is some kind of hypo or does every granite look like that when it grows up a little.

Just interested and thanks for your replies.
