NEED ADVICE

derrickvoncowan Mar 24, 2006 12:57 AM

I'M CONVERTING A TANK THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY USED FOR FISH TO A VIVARIUM. THE GLASS AROUND THE TOP IS STAINED FROM THE WATER LINE. I'VE TRIED SOS PADS, RAZOR BLADE SCRAPERS AND EVERYTHING ELSE I COULD THINK OF TO REMOVE MINERAL DEPOSITS(?)FROM GLASS WITHOUT SUCCESS. IS THERE ANYTHING ANYONE CAN THINK OF THAT CAN CLEAR THIS UP?
THANKS,
DERRICK

Have you tried soaking it in straight white vinegar? There is also a product that is used for removing bugs from car grills that really does the job. I think it is called "Bug-away," of something similar. However, you would need to wash and rinse it very well, then air it out for a few days to be sure it's safe. (I wouldn't use it when any frogs are present. I don't know the ingredients.)
