How to tell if you missed ovulation???

speedingbandit Mar 24, 2006 09:11 AM

I have witnessed 2 ovulations. There was no doubt, but what if ive missed 1?? This female has been coiling on the warm end constantly and she feels heavy like shes got eggs. So without trying to feel for them is there a good chance ive missed the ov.?? Im just going by how my females acted last season that i missed and shes showing great signs of being gravid..Could she have swelled, but not enough to notice??? You can see by the pic she might be filling up..

Here are a couple more pics.. One looks like she was ovulating and the other was taken today. Ive logged in the day of poss. ovulation. but she didnt swell tremendously. What do you guys think???? Thanx....Jason Matheson

Jason I think the top picture was your ovulation. I have had females that barely swell. Some swell really big some don't, plus you could have just not noticed it. Sometimes my female feed good and they look fat all of the time so that throws me off also. Good luck

Hey jason...I noticed there was a shed in the cage?? Did you feel any folicles in the past couple months or so?? If so I would have a lay box in the cage incase she drops. Find out when they lay eggs after the POS shed.

If you see eggs in 6-8 weeks, then you missed ovulation!

If she is still eating, then she probably didn't ovulate.
If she hasn't eaten in several weeks/months, well she's looking
very nice (plump) and could be carrying.

If you really want to know where she is at, try palpating her.
It is simple to do and perfectly safe (provided you are doing
it right). If she recently ovulated, you will feel a huge mass
where the follicles have been released. If she ovulated a
while ago, it will be more spread out, but you will feel them.
Then you'll know.

Good luck!

Yep,that seems to be my method.
I have yet to catch an ovulation.

The only hints i caught last season(my first egg year)were the "perfect coil" look...and the "ridgeback" appearance.

Both of which are now described in very good detail on this site.

This pic was taken two days before this girl gave me eight good eggs.
