Okay, how's this one?

Well, as promised I have a follow up on the prairie king/ cal king hybrid that was disputed on here last year. If you recall, I produced an albino caligaster-looking snake from a virgin mom and the only possible father was an albino california king. Because she looked so much like an albino caligaster, I repeated the breeding this year with much better results. However, the eggs have started hatching today, and the three heads already pipped or completely out of there shell look nothing like my snake from last year. I have no idea now, unless one of the remaining eggs produces a baby that looks similar. However, the good news is that these new babies look SWEET in their own right, having a black and silver banding that shows a mix of california and caligaster traits. So, here is the first 06 Cal/Cal.

Nate.

Ps- sorry my camera won't do better pics so close up. any suggestions?

Just out of curiosity did you happen to own the female long before the hatch out last year(i.e over a year) and if not was she mature when you got her.

BTW - The baby is very pretty.

I hadn't had her long, but a good buddy of mine had raised her since she was a baby as a pet. she was a petco baby, actually. He never attempted to introduce her or breed her, and in fact wouldn't have known how to, as this was his only reptile experience. She lived a solitary life according to his report, which I have to believe. I got her when he was going through a divorce and couldn't keep her, and tried her with a corn male, 5050 cal king male, and by blizzard cal male. The only one that could have hooked up with her (as I watched the other two the entire time, but not him) was the blizzard. She gave me 23 eggs last year, of which one hatched and one died in the egg. This albino baby is the one that hatched and a baby very similar to the black and silver one, but with a slightly different pattern, didn't quite make it.

Still not sure what that albino one is. It wasn't from retained sperm or a calligaster breeding, I know that for sure.

ok I just wanted to rule out retained sperm. Since I didn't see your post last year.

Yeah, I've ruled that out but she still remains a mystery, especially if this clutch doesn't produce anything like her.

more pics above.

Well, as of 9pm, only two of my 10 eggs had fully hatched. Once I find out what all I got, I want to keep 1.2 or so for myself and might be selling the rest. I would need guidance on price as I have never seen this cross done before. Keep watching the classifieds here.
