Lou Bears Daddy!!!! Now I know where Lou gets his looks from!! I read somewhere that crossbreeds don't get as large as pure breds ? I think it has to do with genes. Lou is a "skinny" guy, but so was Yosamite... Now Yosamite eats twice a day.. 4 Large silkies in the A.M. and 4 or 5 in the p.m. He gets mid-day snacks of whatever I have on hand, kingworms, hornworms, crickets, butterworms, ect... When his lights first come on the morning.. he's waiting for food. Now Lou and Stitch are not such eager eaters. Lou eats about 4-6 silkies and a few snacks every other day and Stitch eats when he feels like it.. He's gone as long as 5 days without eating, then all of a sudden he's Mr. Big Manly Hunter, and will eat anything in sight!
I have to be careful when cleaning Yosamites cage, any loose clothing.. necklaces, or earrings can be confused for food. He's gone after my draw-strings on a hooded sweater I was wearing one time, my four-leaf clover necklace...eyeballed my hoop-earrings one time.. He'll eyeball my chihuahua Jose when he walks in the room
Now, the babies are eating like mad. Mrs. Lou is an avid hunter and will find any and all crickets and flies in her cage. She'll take silkies with nooo problems! As for the little boy (no name yet) He's got a bad attitude and is really lazy. He'll wait for the food to come to him. He won't lift a finger to catch a crickets, but he's all over the silkies that I give him. He's still really skittish and will puff up and hiss at me, so I don't bother him much except for food and water time. He's such a little cutie when he thinks no one is watching..
And of course I can't forget my Rana... She's always hungry! But her strick diet and exercise routines have kept her healthy and egg free so far!! Here is a pic I took of her the other day while I was cleaning her cage.. I couldn't believe how much she looked like Stitch
