thefiradragon Jul 28, 2003 08:56 PM

i feel really stupid and sad for this but heres the update on my blind baby. i had him with my other hatchlings being that i lacked space to house him seperatly. now no one yap at me please i feel terrible about this as it is..
i went down yesterday to check up on them all where fine and basking.
the next day i go down to feed them and i find the blind one isnt in her hides, or under the paper towels, i know she coundlt have gotten out so i figure that she fell victim of canniblism
sighs:: i feel so bad about this

I would suggest you look again for a way it could have eluded you or escaped. I could see other hatchlings taking a bite at it' but not consuming the whole animal. There should at least be signs that it was killed if that is what happened. If so, I'm sorry to hear that.

i doubt it was canibalism. The chances of the baby running away is higher than it being canibalized. Its is a major downer when things like this happen, and you cant explain what happened makes it even more of a pain. In truth, i think there would be some signs if he was canniblized, and by signs i mean like, an overly large cage mate, and (for lack of a better word) parts of the other leo. I hope he ran away and you find him, because the cannibalize story is kind of depressing.

It can happen alot eaisier than you think. I had a leo eat a sibbling they were only 2 weeks apart in age. It is unbelievable what they can actually swallow if they want to. I won't put only clutchmates together now.
