Finally, the moment I've been waiting for all month! Right on time, she layed her eggs last night. Looks like 8 perfect eggs, no dimpling and no slugs. Getting her to uncoil and not bite me was not a problem, but I couldn't separate the eggs. I had some deli cups ready for the eggs but had to improvise to put the whole egg mass in the incubator. I'm going to have to learn to separate eggs soon though, as my colubrid eggs are going in hovabators and I won't be able to fit a box with the mass in them. The eggs felt so delicate and I just hope I didn't jostle them too much when trying to separte a few. They are now all incubating together at 89F.
I can't believe how skinny the female is now. Time to start pounding her with rats. She has some perlite in her mouth from her nest box, I got as much out as I could and I hope it doesn't cause a problem. I'll have to use something else next year.
Now the wait to hatch (May 24 I think)!

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper stored up acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. And then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus stole all his acorns, and he got a race car. Is any of this sinking in?
