Nice female, might be a YB, might not.

Kevin_Arbogast Mar 25, 2006 11:57 AM

This is a female that I picked up in 04, she is a picky feeder so she is still a little small but she looks real nice. She has a Yellow Belly look to her, more so in person than in photos, so I look forward to breeding her when she is large enough. However long that may take, she is definatley has her own agenda!

you think????

jeff favelle Mar 25, 2006 03:04 PM

What exactly is it that makes you think that's even close to a YB???

Kevin_Arbogast Mar 25, 2006 04:02 PM

In person she looks a lot like some yellow bellies that I have seen. She has a very light area on her head, good flames on her sides, wierd belly, and a velvety sheen that my crappy camera doesn't pick-up very well. Given those characteristics, I think there is a chance, she could be a YB, and if not I got what I paid for, a nice farm hatched baby. I suppose I should have just kept the YB thought to myself and just posted her as a nice Ball python. I got caught thinking out loud.

"I got caught thinking out loud."

LOL
Nicely put too.

It's a shame there are so many uncrupulous types out there that like to use the forums as a launchpad for future classified ads on an animal. When there are so many of the rest of us that just like to see if other folks see what we see in our animals(and not offered for sale afterwards).

..... it is funny because I first started posting on KS in 98 or something like that, and it was awesome being able to see other peoples animals. Before that I used to wait every month for Crutchfields price list so I could go through it and just about memorize it as I thought about my next snake. There were no pics, just list of animals and a price, I was stocked to get it.I took a break from keeping herps for a couple years, cleaning and feeding a group of retics and carpets and other odds an ends, eventually got old. When I decided two years ago or so, to start keeping herps again I chose Ball Pythons because they are small, easier to take care of (small cages, no rabbits for feeders, turds are not the size of Elephant dung) and they are very colorful. I don't post as much on KS this time around, people seem to take things the wrong way or seem to think that everyone who shares a pic has an agenda. I am old school, I still enjoy seeing pics of everyones animals, I just wish I didn't have to second guess myself about sharing my own animals. Not a very friendly environment in here, definately not like it was back in the day.

Thats an awesome shot. And welcome back to balls! This place isn't all that bad - there are a few hard nosed people and people that just like to troll . But mostly everyone is cool here - I find that snake people have a sardonic nature that not everyone gets. This place has actually become quite a bit more accepting in the past several months. I hope you don't get discouraged - we can always use more opinions, shared expereinces and photos!!!

Since I don't have a large collection, I really enjoy everyone's pictures. I don't get to see many morphs in person, so I look forward to all the wonderfull pics on this forum!

Thanks for sharing yours,
Ken

Here are some photo's of some nice yellow bellies

Kevin_Arbogast Mar 27, 2006 06:14 PM

Yes, those are some textbook examples. I still think this female has a chance of being a YB. The photo doesn't pick it up very well, but she does have the "look" of a YB. She looks very similar to the YB posted on the morph sub-forum where everyone swore it was not a YB, and it turned out to be a proven line. I am not trying to claim she is a YB, I just feel she has a chance of being a sleeper. She definately isn't obvious with the belly markings. Even if she does produce hatchlings that look like YBs, I still won't claim her as a YB unless line breeding produces an Ivory. Thanks, for sharing your opinion, and the pics of your BPs, they are nice! Here is a pic of another of my favorite BPs, another wild type female.
