RETF died suddenly

Barbedwirecat Mar 25, 2006 12:43 PM

Hi,
I had a RETF die on me today and I have no idea why. It was healthy about 2 days ago, I fed him that night and today he passed away. I noticed him loosing muscle mass in his legs the past day, I called my reptile doctor--but she doesn't specialize in frogs and she did not have any idea. It almost looked like he slowed down and died midstep. His pupils are also white. I am going to necropsy him but I wanted to know if anyone else has any clues as to what happened? I'm hoping it wasn't something he got from the food, but it seems coincidental this happend right after he was fed. I had the same thing happen to another frog about 6 months ago. Its just confusing.
And before anyone asks all of the husbandry was correct, humidity, anbient temp, everything.

My baby RETF (~1 1/4" did the same thing last night. Does anybody know what might have happened!?! He was doing fine and was eating and just like the previous post, he died what looked like mid-step. His tank, humidity, temp... everything was fine. Somebody please respond. Are RETF super difficult to take care of? Are babies prone to spontaneous deaths?
