Thats not a lavender (t ) male. It is a T negative (T-).
Will be interesting to see if the Prarie king is allelic to the male or if you get double het babies.
I meant to type T
T = lavender
T- = red eye albino
You have a T- Lemon king.
With the florida king in that Lemon (Lemon = Florida king X cali king) it will be also interesting to see if the Prarie female doesn't burst from the large eggs.
j/k
Just kidding she won't burst but you will have larger babies from the florida gene.
I agree, Rainer. It is definately t-, or regular red eyed alb. I will be really interested to see if these two are alleleic. I will be surprised if they are, but I have been surprised before, ...and greatly enjoy the experience, lol.
Rainer, havent seen you at hbs yet. Hope you stop by. It is a nice environment.

I was not sure what he was. thats what we was sold to me as last year at a Expo. he has also breed with these two, a female Albino Cal-King, and a female that is supposed to be the same as him but Im not sure. do you know what will come from those breedings? thanks.
JIM

Seeing the female that goes with the male, they are definately the california x florida cross, though certainly not f1. They are many generations in, as those were made a long time ago. I think Rainer may know something about their origins and the breeder and how long ago they were made. Breeding them together will give you animals like the male and the female and a range of variable expression in between. They are beautiful and will give you good sized offspring, as Rainer said. The offspring should all be alb. The cross witht he cal will give you animals more cal looking. If they are both the same type of albino (T-) then, you will get all albino. If t is not the same albino, then you will not get any albinos. Keep us posted.

My cali male is albino, and my prairie female is apparantly het, but this year I have only gotten normals so far. Again, see below for the confusion surrounding this, but if they don't produce albinos this year, I would say that they are definitely not allelic. I have five more eggs to hatch, that I am planning on slitting tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Aren’t you embarrassed to post photos of that nasty filthy cage in a public forum? Urates all over the bottom of the cage, wadded up wet and dirty paper towels everywhere. That’s a great way to show the public how hobbyists care for their animals.
I don’t usually feel the need to defend myself but in this case I can see why someone might think the way you do. So here goes. Im not sure how every one else gets their snake to cross breed but for me all that seems to work is to wait until snake cage cleaning day and put the male in the cage of a female that he would readily mate with and then put in a female that he would not breed with unless she smells like his normal mate, thus leaving the cage as messy as possible to trick him into thinking he is in with his normal mate. As for my cleaning practices I clean my snake cages on a daily bases with an overall major cleaning about every 10 days. So when taking a picture like this one the first thing that I think is, I hope people don’t think this is a normal cage look at my house. So before you judge me you should take a look at all of my pictures in the king snake photo gallery and on my website (www.westernhognose.com) and now I hope you understand why this messy cage look was posted. If I would have tried to clean it up while they were matting then they would have stopped and this may not have worked out so well. And if anyone that has been to my home and seen my snakes and how there are cared for would like to put in there opinion that would be great. Or you can feel free to come by at any time and see for your self! Ok I rest my case.

Nature is so very meticulously clean after all. How many herpers have found a snake in a hole laying on its own sh*? I have seen it more than once. Maybe we should get peta out there on mother nature. After all, she is nasty and mean. Shame on mother nature!! I hope no one ever emulates such a nasty mother!
I use snake crap as bedding. It helps their digestive enzymes break down the food better.
LOL, Rainer. That's a good one, but your also right. Some of the bacteria in the feces is the same as that in the digestive tract. It does help to break down food. In tests on animals regularly cleaned and those where the cages have been left for longer periods, no noticable difference in health was seen with a slight less amount of regurge in those with the nastier cages. The notion that everything has to be all spic-and-span was nice for Donna Reed, and it is sure a lovely myth, but in practice it doesnt hold water, in spite of what folks want to think. THe peta mindset is not about the animals, it is about the emotional over-reactions of uneducated people!

ive had snakes crap just before mating and i honestly dont clean it up until they are seperated.as well i have introduced snakes together and on will poop in the cage as a sign that either they are their or this is my territory so dont be ashamed. it happens especially when a new snake is introduced.
