Hi friends!I noticed a strange behavior of my 1' caiman. He take the food, chew it for a wile, but he doesn't swallow it!He ate before the some fresh water fish without problems! Maybe he doesn't like the taste anymore?lol..any advice will be appreciated!thanx!

My questions before I begin would be...

1.) How much of this "Fresh Water" fish to you give him?
2.) Do you provide any other animals or vitamin supplements?

The reason being is that if you are only feeding the caiman exclusively fish, then this could lead to some malnourishments in other aspects. My recommendation would be try add in some mice and such as well. Try to get some whole food items, some chunk meat such as beef, chicken, etc into his diet (but make sure that you provide a vitamin supplement as well). You can also try a commercial diet that is complete called Mazuri Crocodilian Diet. You can find the diet here:

I am not saying that feeding fish is a bad thing because it cerainly is not, but it just simply should not be the staple diet for the animal.

Oh, ok!I got him a couple of weeks ago..He ate 3 or 4 times after some days for the acclimatation. asap I will give him some pinkies or other kind of food..I am not new to caiman at all, but I would like to know if is there anybody that noticed the some thing...thanx for the reply!
