Can't find them ANYWHERE...

I really want a Texas Blind Snake. Theyre so awesome, and so strange. I can't find much information on whether or not they can be collected, and where they still exist. I live in New Mexico and I know they at least used to live here, but several sources Ive found have said that they do not anymore. I can't really find much reliable info, or the actual snake, at all! Any ideas?

They aren't rare in southern NM at all. You just don't see them except on really rainy nights crossing roads. They are hard to see on the road, they look like a shiny thread.

Why you want one, I can't guess. They are tiny, shy, burrowing, and only eat ant larvae. Not the easiest animal to keep. Oh, and they smell horrible when handled.
