jellybean game and gestation

Jeff Hardwick Mar 26, 2006 11:20 AM

Some of you geezers might recall the "guess the number of jellybeans" game and I felt like reviving it Kingsnake style. There is no prize (sorry) but I'll post pics of the clutch and the final count in a week or so.
She's had exactly 29 days from copulation (observed) to the pre-lay shed and I'll assume another 5-10 days for the eggs to drop. Just a note, this female swelled up faster than any other milk I've bred. Several other females bred at the same time are still dragging themselves around and have not gone into shed mode.
So, how many jellybeans in that sausage?? Jeff

That one looks great, Jeff. I'm going to guess 5 jellybeans. Is this her first season?

Yeah Jeff, I think Mikes got it with 7. My celaenops dropped 7, and 6 look good. I'll let you guys know when they hatch. The gentilis are doing great. The female's really fiasty, I love how she trys to chew my nuckles off, but doesn't even break the skin!(LOL) I'm very happy with them! I sure hope those Lyon Co. gentilis breed this year, I'd love to get a pair. Hey, post a pic of the Lincoln Co. parents.
Thanks and good luck!
