how in the world can you make a black racer tame. It seems to be trashing around lots. Also what eles can you house with a black racer. I know they eat frogs and mice/rats. thanx

You would be surprised. If you use gloves and handle them as often as possible, they will start to see you are not going to harm them. Just hold them every day. And in about 2 weeks they usually tame. Some take longer than others. And I would not house anything with it, they eat almost anything. They eat lizards, insects, rodents, snakes(their own kind as well), sometimes fish, frogs, possibly birds and their eggs. THANKS, WILLIAM H. AND THE GREEN PINE MUSEUM.

They more than likely will NEVER tame out(with exceptions), about the only thing I would house with it would be another black racer.

Actually my experience with these racers is that they can tame. I'm not saying every racer will. But some do. Racers and coachwhips have a such a bad name that anyone thinking of getting one, never gets one. I do not recomend for beginners, but someone experienced will do fine with one. Out of all the agressive racers and coachwhips i have tamed, there is a way to tame them. I do plan to change this bad name that coluber and masticophis has. There is no reason for hating this species. Coluber and masticophis are my favorite species in north america. And they make great captives if the person knows what he is DOING. WILLIAM H.
