clown6933 Mar 26, 2006 04:05 PM

is there a bulb or a type of lighting that i can use for nocturnal viewing of my 2 adult cresteds. i no there is the black lights for heating your tank and viewing but that raises the temps to high even with a low watt bulb. is there a light source that resembles night but dosent put off heat just for night time viewing. if so where can i get this product thanks for any help.

I use a 40 watt red lightbulb. It does not effect the cresteds eyes and 40 watts is not enough to raise tempuratures as long as it is not in the tank or focused on the tank using a dome light fixture.

if you dont use a dome light and dont focus it on the tank then what do you use the red bulb in. and where do you place it.

You can use the same clamping fixture that most dome lights come with but simply remove the dome. Keep it a couple inches above the cage and there should be no problems.

i work with marine fish and to stimulate lunar cycles we use various colors of LEDs.

at the shop iw ork at we have white (full moon) blue (various other cycles of the moon) red, and a green light.

they produce no heat and the lower or higher in size you go changes how much light is put out
