Hookup and a quick question

reptile_man7mm Mar 26, 2006 05:59 PM

Well my Amels just hooked up. Im not sure if i disturbed them or not.. i accidently moved there setup.. and the male moved his tale.. there was a sperm sack laying on the ground. Im not sure if they were "done" or not.. as you can see in the pics.. there tails were just side by side.. i hope there were done.

Ill leave him in there till tommorow, then seperate for a few days, then put him back..

Any thoughts??

There is a "residue" after a successful mating on the ground. Bumping them is not going to bother them. You can actually lift their tails while they are together, without bothering them. As far as i know, the male won't release until he is done. You could always use a second opinion though, as I am no expert.
Good Luck.

I would bet they finished. Like blackheart said they leave a little present afterwards. I was at this snake place on Edisto Island SC and these rat snakes were mating. The guy who was cleaning the area just picked both of them up and moved them several feet. I dont think they even noticed.
