Cut on Tail

theburningham Mar 26, 2006 06:20 PM

Hi,
My name is Ryan and i have owned 2 leopard geckos for all most 7 years (wow, i never really thought about that before. time sure goes by quick). Today I noticed that one of them had a large cut that extends about 1/4 of the way through his tail and occurred about mid way along the length. Because there is nothing sharp in the cage that could have caused this, I am assuming that for some reason he tried to detach his tail. The cut looks like it has scabbed over nicely and the surrounding tissue still has good color. I am looking to find a good disinfectant to put on it. The vet that I talked to suggested polysporin, as he claimed it is safe for animal use. Does this sound accurate? Any thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated
thanks very much
Ryan

I have use neosporin on a cut on the tail of my smallest female leo. Within 2-3 days it looked great. It healed up nicely.
