I R so screwed...

PhoenixZorn Jul 28, 2003 10:05 PM

After a poor showing at Sewerfest, I came home with about 8000 crickets. Not thinking, I put about 4000 in each of 2 10 gallon tanks. One tank has a nice clamped on lid with tiny holes in the screen, while the other has large holes. Well, unbenownst to me, the crickets had a way out. I now have about oh, 2000 of the 4000 crickets running around my house. Someone help... how do I get rid of them without having to bug bomb my house. As for suggesting cats, my cats are hard at work as I type this, and will likely be quite sick of crix by morning.

Takes a few days, but put a bowl or container(or several) they can not get out of on the floor with the cardboard egg crates climbing up to it. In the bowl put dry cricket food and in the center of it put a lid with water and paper towel or sponge in it, they will find the food and all be in the bowl within a few days. Empty it as they fill it up.

wire mesh round cage that you can place in the house for escapess, that they can crawl in, but not get out.... I keep it on my lanai.... I have terrible aim when I add crickets to the bins!!

2 weekends ago I went to the show at white plains, ny. I bought 5000 crickets. Right after the show I went out to eat with my wife and antoher girl that came with us. We get back into the truck, and the girl looks in the back. There are hundreds of lose crickets running around. I was so pissed. I went back to the show and had a few words with the supplier. He did give me a good portion of my money back, which made me happy. I did have to spend 30 minutes vaccuming out the truck though, because the ladies didn't want to drive home with hundreds of free ranging crickets.

LOL. Maybe you should have asked to borrow some hungry lizards and let them lose in the truck to catch all the lose crickets

and gather on it. Could be an eletrical device. I would try a heating pad with something sticky on it to trap them. Maybe like this: Heating pad, then cardboard, then lots on fly paper on the cardboard.

I know they can live awhile if they find water the drink.
good luck!
