questions for you good folks.
1. How do you keep the humidity up in a screen top cage?
2. I have my snake is a 40 gal. breeder tank, should she be in something different?
3. What is the best temp. to keep it for her?
4. I have a red heat bulb & a basking bulb on top of the screen. good or bad?
5. Mat heaters - good or bad?
6. what can I do (if anything) to make her next shed easier on her?
7. Why in so many of the pics. I see on here, the snakes are in plastic tubs w/ newspaper on the bottom?

questions for you good folks.

1. How do you keep the humidity up in a screen top cage?
A.) You can either mist a few times a day with a water bottle, or you can try taping plastic over 1/2 to 2/3rds of the screen.

2. I have my snake is a 40 gal. breeder tank, should she be in something different?
A.) While this will work for a 4-5 foot snake, you should go with at least 4x2 foot cage for a larger boa, such as a boaphile cage.

3. What is the best temp. to keep it for her?
A.) 88-90 F on the warm side

4. I have a red heat bulb & a basking bulb on top of the screen. good or bad?
A.) I do not use lights as a heat source, I use belly heat, others may do different, but that is my preference.

5. Mat heaters - good or bad?
A.) This is what I use. Though you need a temp gun or some such to make sure of the temps produced. You may need a thermostat to regulate temps, if too hot or too low.

6. what can I do (if anything) to make her next shed easier on her?
A.)Mist her when she is in the blue until she sheds

7. Why in so many of the pics. I see on here, the snakes are in plastic tubs w/ newspaper on the bottom?
A.) Because breeders find it easier to house multiple snakes in less space with the tubs. The newspaper is an easy, cheap source of bedding that allows you to see everything the boa produces.
