Bull Snake Breeding Help

pboyle69 Mar 27, 2006 08:05 AM

I own an adult pair of bull snakes in which the male seems to have lost the desire to breed. When I took him out of cooling he was all ready to go, but the female wasn't. Then the female started her post-ovulation shed and about 5 days into it, the male started his own shed. When the female finished her shed i put her in the male's cage and nothing, she was obviously interested but he was not. I then waited until the male finished his shed and again nothing. She is now obviously ready to go but he seems to have lost it? Any tips ideas suggestions?

Keep reintroducing them to each other even though its dissappointing. Sometimes the mating is quick and seems to come out of nowhere. Or maybe leave them together for an extended period if you can. Conception might occur unobserved or at night (I had suprise eggs recently from a very uninterested pair).
