I really like the Craftsman-style influence you used in that crib. Did you start with rough-sawn lumber and mill it yourself?

Is this your first child?

How is that cage with the IPP floor epoxy holding up?

I have since learned that the product is the same or nearly the same as what is used by Boeing on the floors of their hangers. I found a distributor and hope to try it someday. Both on my garage floor and on cages.

Hey Chris,

The crib was a copy of a design my wife liked at a high end kids store. Had to go in there with a measuring tape and pen and paper to get everything I needed. Felt stupid doing it, but suprisingly no one really noticed me doing it.

I have been doing more and more furniture style projects lately and have been working more and more with the planer and jointer. I hate the extra time it takes when having to mill everything down, but way cheaper, and you know you've done everything yourself other that cutting the tree down.

I haven't heard anythign from the person who ordered the cage, other than when she first set it up. I would definitely use that product again for high moisture cages. I think it worked well, and much better than a clear polyeurethane finish would do. Cleanup is made way easier with the epoxy as well as it is like a glass finish over the wood.

I forgot to add,

This is our first kid and will hopefully be here any day. The nice thing about this crib is the sides come off and it will turn into a twin bed frame once they outgrow the crib. I think this will get more than one use before it is turned into a bed, but the option is always there. I used mortised bed rail fasteners on the crib so that it could be taken apart if it ever needs to be moved.

I'll warn ya beforehand you might want to consider selling the inhabitant as they are notoriously expensive captives, require high amount of time and energy to care for and usually take over the house.

Congratulations on the soon to be new addition. Good luck and enjoy the experience.

only a matter of time before they escape that enclosure.

Congrats and that crib looks great. One question, the items on the headboard....I hope they're soft stuffed animals not hard figurines.

They were just up there for the picture. Wife thought it would make the picture nicer. Baby won't be using it for a little while anyway. Hay another bed in our room setup for the first little while.
