i think they are great but are rare, from what i understand they used to be the norm when it came to dragons but inland beardies then took over i think, i would do a search on the net for breeders but i dont think they will be easy to find. Coasties are beautiful, i love the dark colors, would love to have one if they were still about.

Well, someone on another forum I go to does have one. I don't know if they ever did have any plans to breed him, and I don't believe they do. They have never found a mate or any others for that matter.
I believe the coastal and eastern bearded dragons are very rare outside of Australia and with the current ban on all exports from down under, there probably won't be any of these two species of dragons available in north american for some time. Hopefully things will change and Australia will start exporting some of their native animals under controlled conditions.
I have been told by my vet that my male is a pogona barbata (coastal), although I am not sure. I know of someone else who has a male barbata, but no females.
