05 Axanthic Het for whiteside question

tom Mar 27, 2006 01:29 PM

Hi All,

I am new to kingsnakes , mostly a hognose guy. Question: I see these terms on the forum like NE Axanthic. I purchased this male from Tim Ricks at the Daytona show. Does any one know which strain he was working with or a guess from the pic which strain this is.

Thanks for any help

Tom

Tim worked with Lemke axanthics. Not NE axanthics. Matter of fact the WS srain originated from the Lemke axathics.

where is lemke and why do all of the axanthics (NE and Lemke) resemble the Floridana "brooksi" so much? Once again, sorry for the novice question, but I'm looking at getting an Axanthic soon and I'm trying to start learning a little about them.

These Axanthics [Lemke , NE, BHB(anery)] are all Florida kings.. what really separated them is the apperance, for example the NE Strain is more Purple-ish/blue while the Lemke Strain may express some blue-ish pigment but not as intense as the NE Strain...Then you have the BHB anery/Axanthic which seems to just be a more black and white mutation.

but there are crosses (Lemke X NE) that may fall some where in btwn?

hope that made sense
