anybody have this problem?

johnavilla Mar 27, 2006 02:01 PM

is it a problem? What it is... I have a male that went off feed in september after being a realy good feeder. Nothing unusual there. He ate one medium rat on january 1st. Since then he has refused all five times that I have atempted to feed him and he is starting to look a little thin. Should I be worried yet? This guy has some really unusual markings and better yet one of the sweetest personalities I have ever come across in a snake so I would be very upset if he turned into a problem feeder or stopped eating all together. Other than looking a little thin he isn't showing any other ill effects and he isn't under weight, just a little thin. Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem last year with one of my males - he was a great feeder - went off feed (nothing unusual) mid winter he took a meal - but then when everyone was back on feed - he was still refusing - I tried everything, live, f/t, mice - he just hid in his hide. It took him a bit longer to "warm up" but when he did - he went right back to pounding rats.

that is exactly the sitch here. all throgh the breeding season he paced around looking for a girl (you did'n say this i'm just obsering) now all he does is stay in his hide. How often did you offer? I've been offering every couple of weeks.

Sounds pretty much the same - I offered every couple of weeks until he kicked in. Come to think of it my albino is doing the same thing this year.
