THIS MAKES UP FOR ALL THE DUDS LAST WEEK

kylescott Mar 27, 2006 02:39 PM

Yesterday night I came home and just thought I would go up stairs and check everybody out before I went to bed. Decided to feed a few snakes and noticed one of my girls laying in a perfect circle. I lifted her tub up and and see eggs through the bottom of the plastic tub. I missed ovulation, didn't know she was gravid and did not record her last shed. I checked her 3 days ago and noticed her acting weird, but she showed no sign of being gravid. Well, it made my night. 9 very plump eggs, I candled them. 7 are fertile (tons and tons of veins) and 2 of them might be fertile. I weighed the eggs at 784 grams and man are they heavy. They are all attached to each other because they were not laid recently (day or two ago). I was so nervous, making sure I was really careful. This makes up for my first batch of eggs (8) being almost all duds.

I am not to worried about the incubation period, I guess I should. But I think everything will be ok from here on out.

Its one of the best names out there, lol. Its becoming more of a more common name, not so thrilled about that.

ya gotta hatch em. it's easy, but keep an eye on them. i check mine every day to make sure they aren't too wet or dry. you won't have to do anything most of the time, but if you have a problem, it's good to catch it early. and if you get any sort of mold, powder for athletes foot will kill it without hurting your eggs. by the way, what was your breeding on this clutch? kd
