pine not eating

rocko5 Mar 27, 2006 03:57 PM

hi,

I recently bought a pine snake (about 1.5 years old). For the first 6 weeks it was eating fine (FT mice). now for nearly 3 weeks it has not been eating.
it is still very lively, and i cannot detect any weight loss.
nothing has changed in the temperture.
anyone any ideas ? should i be worried.

thanks

Do you know if it's a male or not. The males go off feed this time of year and do nothing but crawl all over their cages looking for a little female companionship. Spring is in the air.

hi,

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure whether it is a male. (have not had it probed). Think that might be it though. it has been extremely active lately.
how long does that normally take ?

Maybe a month or two. I have a glass front cage and I cover it with newspaper during this time of year to discourage him from constantly rubbing his nose against it. It seems to help. I still offer it food every two weeks or so until he starts eating regularly again.
Keep herpin',
