Bad eggs and good eggs

steve fuller Mar 27, 2006 08:06 PM

Both clutches arrived over the weekend. Clutch of Texas indigo eggs on the left are a disappointment. Mother produced nine good looking eggs last year. Six hatched. Clutch of Eastern indigo eggs on the right are large. Mother produced six similarly large eggs last year. Three hatched. Both snakes will get next breeding season off. Hopefully, a younger Texas and two younger Easterns coming up will breed next fall.

Congratulations and good luck with the eggs. Do you know for positive that the Texans are no good? Or do you incubate like normal and hope for the best?

Based on what I've seen in past years, the Texas eggs don't look viable. But because they have the right granular texture, I'll keep them in the box just in case.

Congratulations on the eastern eggs, and good luck with them. Thanks for posting the comparison pics, they are interesting.
