cutting flexwatt

zach_whitman Mar 27, 2006 08:08 PM

I forget, can you cut flexwatt anywhere or only across the clear part? I figure if I cut across the black part I would have to tape the edge so it wouldn't be live, but will it interupt the circuit?
cheers
Zach

Zach, the 3" and 4" can be cut anywhere along its length, the 11" can only be cut in 1' increments (marked with a dotted line). Of course it is always recomended that you insulate a cut element with some electrical tape.

Hope that helps.

I finally got back from the manufacture. They weren't specific on the 11" but did refer me to this page.

It basically says as long as you cut all the way through the heating strip you will be ok. I guess myself and others find it just easier to cut on the marking.

Sorry for the confusion

All the sizes can be cut to any length you nee as long as you insulate the end that was cut. It is better to not cut the carbon if at all possible as that secion will not function.. A razor blade and a steady and will make you a nice cut to any length you need...
