I recently aquired a baby striped grey phase Retic. He is still very young, probably 3 or 4 months old and 3 feet long or so. Although I've been an avid snake keeper for years, I've never encountered a snake that sheds so frequently. My baby retic is shedding about once evey 8 days!!! He is currently feeeding on one very large thawed frozen mouse or a small rat once a week, so I know I'm not "overfeeeding" him. His humidity level and temp in his enclosure are great and I closely monitor them because of this problem. Although his sheds are frequent, they are getting better (at first they were in tiny pieces, now it's down to just a few pieces). I know he's a young snake that grows quickly, but I've never seen anything like this before. Could this be a potential probelm? He's been checked by a herp vet for parasites and any other medical condition and is perfectly healthy other than the very frequent shedding.
Any advice/comments? Thanks!
