Not all males are the same, some can/will handle more then others...
You also need to consider that sperm count will decrease with additional females bred...
It is not unheard of for a single male to succesfuly fertilize more then 10 females, egg fertility would not be 100% with those numbers.
A safe number of females per given male would be 5 or 6 with a higher percentage of fertility.
Age also plays a big factor, I would not run too many females on a young first time breeder male while a proven older male can handle much more.
