That's great! Who's the proud poppa? One of my normals gave me six eggs this morning,60 days on the dot. She was bred by my Spider. Jon

screamingwoman Mar 28, 2006 10:05 AM

Tosha- Our due date was about the same. Mine was due to lay on 13MAR. She laid yesterday! 4 beautiful white, dimply and somewhat heavy eggs. This was her first clutch ever and mine too!!
Does the weight of the eggs indicate the approximate weight when they hatch? The 4 eggs together were 355 g. I tried to candle them, but was too excited with hands shaking to get a good look. They are stuck together side be side! One has great veins easy to see. I will try the others later with some help.
COngratulations!!!!!

Best of luck!

Looking good! Will mom incubate? Maybe we (read, you) can document the environment during incubation.

Thanks Jay - Yes my intention is to let her do the incubation - I am a little concerned because she looks like she lost quite a bit of weight after laying - she was just over 1600 when bred - she looks to be about 1000 now - also she doesn't look like she can honeycomb the eggs - but I don't know how important that is - I'll have to keep an eye on them and have the incubator set up just in case.

This year I decided to follow the advice of Rick Denmon and Bob Clark and not turn my tub into an incubator! The humidty is hovering around 80% right now - mostly due to the cypress still being wet from when I cooked it and the temperature is in the upper 80s. And my fingers are crossed and I've been praying hard to the appropriate ball gods.

We'll see what happens!
