Opinions on This Weird Pastel

snakebstr Mar 28, 2006 11:43 AM

I got this pastel in a trade and soon noticed something weird about it. To me it almost looks like a paradox pastel? I would like to know what some of you think. Thanks and enjoy my new little jem.

It does have a few odd looking areas of darker, tan scales. I do not think it will produce anything radical, but if it is a female, it would be a keeper. If it is a male, and you are going to sell him, it might put a $100 premium on him...just my thoughts.

For the babies?? Let's just kill the market....sell them for $50 each. Man, if they're gonna sell for $300 - 500 then hold 'em back and make combos with them.

Why keep back male Pastels?

joshhutto Mar 28, 2006 05:32 PM

dude you could already buy male pastel's for $400 at almost any show you went to this year, why do you think they won't drop down to $300 this year? The prices are the way they are due to the fact that everyone and their brother has jumped into breeding these animals. In 5 years when all these fly by night companies have given it up, the people that are in it for the long haul will be able to sell their babies with no problem. This year will be a great year to see the market price drop on alot of morphs that have asking prices that aren't justified by the amount of the morphs being produced, I mean common, I have to be the last breeder to buy a pastel male (bought it in tampa last month). If I can sell the babies that I produce from him for $200 I will make a profit and besides, it costs me almost nothing to maintain each individual snake (probably around $150 per month out of pocket for my whole collection).

Looks like we have another Rocket scientist in the ball world. If everyone thought like you the market would be worse that it already is. Keep selling the female pastels for 500.00.

jyohe Mar 29, 2006 06:56 PM

I'm not a scientist..........

and if you knew what people actually paid for stuff behind the scenes you'd cry for paying what you actually did?..

it's all who you know.....

I been around awhile.......

how old are you?

and I could sell pastel females and still be happy at $500 if they drop to that.......

and......as for the question and responce......the peron in the first post will be selling babies in what? 3 years from now>.?...

.....go ahead.......pay 1200$ for girl pastels ......and $100 for normal males........it happens everyday.....

........then again....the same same same same ads fill the classifieds everyday.....so not many people are jumping on them .......

I have been in this business for around 15-20 years, So I think I know what is going on and how to price and sell animals. I am not going to try and get 1200.00 each for my female pastel but it won't be 500.00 each either, If I have to hold them back for future breeders then that's fine also, I will just raise them up and breed them...No biggie to me. I am not gonna give them away like some people, If you want to sell yourself short to make a QUICK dollar then that is your own downfall. I will be here until the ball python market goes totally under, Yea I like the money but more so I like the MORPHs and want to produce them ALL.
Thanks David
