ALBINO - eating habits and more.

raptor1 Mar 28, 2006 02:28 PM

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help.
I have a number of boas
Salmon Male/Arabesque female/Normale female/Male and female Zig Zag (Stripe.)Albino Kahl stain.
All were neonates when I got them last year except the normale female (she is approx 8')
Anyhow all are eating well - except the female Albino.
All others are practically out of there rack when it comes to feeding time, snatching their food with speed. Also All have 2- sometimes 3 mice each.(obviously Jumbo rat for the adult female.)I feed Them all approx every 6 days.
Tha Albino however - never strikes- you just put the food in there and it is gone approx 2 hours later. However She mostly will only ever eat 1 mouse- on the odd occassion 2. Also I have noticed she is a lot more nervouse than any of the others.
I hardly handle any of my snakes (approx once every 10 days.)
As i hope to breed them in the future.
I have read somewhere - Albino for some reason tend to be nervouse is this true.?
Anyhow any advice / help would be appreiciated.
Raptor.

They're all different, I have two albino males that wolf every time. Also have several others and the salmon hypo is my pickiest eater. Not much you can do other than ensure you husbandry is correct and let them eat what they will (but not too much....the darn pigs)

i wouldnt worry about it as long as they are all eating. however i would work to switching them over to rats as that is what most of them will be eating for the majority of their lives. in addition to rats havign better nutrition, you will simply be able to increase the size of the prey item as opposed to the quantity. this way it is easier to have an animal eat the correct amount and is also better for them.
