Caging for adult burmese

coyotethug Mar 28, 2006 08:13 PM

I have a 5.5 foot male granite burmese and was wondering what size enclosure I will need when he gets bigger. Can I get away with the vision model 662 (72x36x18) for his entire life. I know it is a male and should top out around the mid teens. I keep everything else in vision cages or vision racks and was just wondering if I could stick with my favorite or will I have to build something?

Also, any pics of your housing for adults would be great in case I do have to build I would like some ideas.

From my readings, that's the recommended minimum size for a retic.

It'll do but, definitely doesn't seem optimal considering the the "whole life" & '72" x 36"' for a 12ft snake(maybe more).
... just pondering the life of my snakes from inside the tank but my tank plans for my burm are quite similar to yours 8'x3'x2'

I was thinking of getting the #622 for my burm when looking for a cage but it just seems to be bare minimum and I didn't want that. I looked around and boamaster seems to have a pretty nice 8 foot one. and a few others. In the end I decided to build an enclosure with the help of a bud. It's going to be 10'x30"x30" when complete.. and it two 5 foot cages bolted together (in case I need to move it ever) I am still in the process of making it but coming along good so far. We still have lots of work though but for some pics of it. Of course 10' is by no means standard or anything I just prefer to have more room for my animals than minimum. Good luck with whatever you do. And where are the pics of your burm!?

Do yourself and your burm a favor and get an AP cage. They hold heat and humidity WAY better than visions. Get them with the sliding glass doors, belly heat and locks and your set! I've kept burms and retics in both visions and AP's and the ap cages are a hundred times better. Check em out. Here is a pic of my stack of 3 T25 models. They are 6'L 30"D 18"H. This is plenty big for an adult male, but they make 7' and 8' cages if you prefer. I LOVE mine!
