Surprises!

Rich_Crowley Mar 28, 2006 09:27 PM

Long overdue, but a nice surprise when I got home tonight. Eggs from one of my borneo stp's. She shed on Fed 4th and I expected her to drop around early March. Nothing. I kept looking at her going...you know you have eggs so get on with it...I waited, I doubted, I finally just figured I read it wrong.

I get home tonight and decide her cage needs a cleaning and I go to pick her up and plop! four fresh laid eggs...oops! Put her back and unfazed she continues to lay eggs. I did grab the four and immediately put them in the incubator. Tomorrow morning I will grab the rest before I run off to an early morning meeting. Woo hoo, first eggs for the season.

Congatulations! Let me know when they are ready if you are going to sell any of them. I need to add a Borneo to my small collection.

Final count was 26 eggs with about 6 infertile/questionable.
Very large eggs this time and generally very nice looking.

Now the wait...55 days and I will be out of town for the hatching! At least I get to play over the long weekend.

Very nice Rich, is this the same pair that lays every year for you? Now the long waiting game. Take care.Ryan

This is my special recipe couple. I am hoping to successful reproduce what I hatched two years ago that unfortunately did not survive. Hoping to confirm a reproducable trait or add to my short list of abnormalities due to incubation. Photo of this is attached for reference.

So at this point, I have no clue what to expect. You have to love the excitement. I figure I will have 20 of the 26 eggs being hatchable.
