Who would've thought...

...that a snake could be so inquisitive and intelligent. I got her as my first large snake a couple of months ago, she's an amazing animal. Extremely docile and very interested in everything. My friends are scared to death of her and my 2 year old cousin(girl) loves her more than her dog. Got to start early with the kids. Anyways, enjoy.

BTW- My cousin only gets to pet or watch her "wormy movements" while I hold her. Very supervised.

Hi mike..
I'm partial to normals but that is one nice looking snake. Thanks for sharing. I just got my first burm about1.5yrs ago and I will have more there no doubt. He is very interested in everything going on as well. Never tries to ite but he's very "hyper" : )

No worries man! Ever fallen asleep with a 10 1/2 ft retic in your bed?! My room is enclosed and nothing can get in or out so my larger animals usually get to free roam quite a bit! I do miss that male bali retic! Now the ceylonese will eventually be able to do the same...they need to get alot more size on them first. At 8ft they can do what they please!

I'd let mine free roam if they had their own "snake room". - I think a 19 year old died a couple of years ago(2?) from his 12ft burm free roaming while he was sleeping. It sounds cool, but they're still not domesticated.

I think it was a 15 year old boy with a loose 11 foot burmese. When I read that of course it broke my heart for the dead boy and his poor family that had to live with this nightmare and loss. But it should be obvious to all that this isolated event is certainly a fluke. I can only speculate and guess as to why the burmese attacked him in his sleep. It's common sense to know that there had to be a reason. Burmese do not view humans as a food source. The account I read said it had grabbed the boys foot and constricted his leg, or something similar. I have to wonder if maybe his feet had the smell of a prey animal on them somehow. Had the burmese actually had an intention of knowingly killing and eating the boy it would have gone for his face and the smell of his saliva or breath. All in all it is a very sad thing and it is very unfortunate that that happened. But like I said it is an isolated and incredibly rare thing. A fluke. I'd wager that if a thousand teens slept with a free roaming adult burmese that a thousand live kids would wake up the next day and go to school. This is NOT to say that I advocate allowing these giants to free range our homes. I'd like to make it clear that I don't. I say even when there is a miniscule risk don't ever take the chance.
