Hobo is back!

PHRatz Mar 29, 2006 06:41 PM

At around 4PM today I turned up the "turtle house" that we placed over the burrow Hobo buried himself in & OMG there he was! Sitting around in the little house getting his act together I suppose.
I got out of the way immediately because I didn't want to bother him. When he ventured out I just happened to see him so I grabbed the camera.
Looking good Hobo!

LOL that's too true. Hobo is a very aggressive wild boy & he generally does have the leave me alone 'tude.
He really didn't seem like he wanted to be bothered yesterday. Maybe he did wonder what day it is lol!!
He ended up digging around the purple sage bush & buried himself again for the night.
It's supposed to be 80F today so I think he'll likely be out & about at some point today.

Well, "Happy Spring" to you Hobo!!

Doesn't it get you excited to see the turtles up and about again?I just love it! My new pen is just about completed. I am trying to get some plants for it.....and.....I need some more shade. DH planted a hibiscus in the pen and wouldn't you know it was directly under the clothesline! Ha-ha-ha! Well, he moved the clothesline instead of the plant!

Anyway......I had planned on using the clothesline to drape a shade cloth over on really hot days until my trees get to going good outside the pen to give it afternoon shade. Oh well......I can always go ahead and hang something on the line sideways and see if it will knock the hot sun off of the pen. Oh, just in case you are wondering why I built the pen under the clothesline in the first place.......it was the part of my yard that had a lot of bare area (no grass) and I usually don't use the clothesline anymore because of the dryer. I do like to dry my sheets on the line on occassion though. I love that smell of sheets dried outside! I hope everyone is enjoying the week. .....9boxies

I don't think it's weird to want to hang the laundry, I just don't do it because the last time I did hang a shirt out to dry I did it in the heat of summer, the sun faded it in splotches so it was ruined. lol

Yes it really was an exciting moment for me to see Hobo out & about. I just had to get a picture.
We left him to hibernate on his own outside because he is so wild and he's the only one we have who seemed to know what to do when the weather cooled down.
On St. Patrick's Day the Mexican ground squirrels were out, I knew if they were out it wouldn't be long before he showed up.
I'm not going to worry about feeding him or anything right now because he's been taking care of himself for years, I don't think he needs me to interfere in his life any more than I already have. :-x
I'm happy to see him even if he isn't happy to see me.
