In reading Jessi Kreb's notes about the Curent Status and Future Goals of Hellbenders in Zoos, I came across this line, "...there are currently 26 hellbenders held in zoos and aquariums in the United States."

Does anyone have that full list?
Are all of them solitary in their exhibit?

The last time I went to the zoo in syracuse NY, they had a single adult. It`s been there for a good 7 or 8 years now.

Ive been to the knoxville zoo earlier this year,I havent seen any salamanders especially Hellbenders.Unless they dont have them on display for the public.

I volunteer at the Good zoo in Wheeling WV and we have a single WC male that we have had on display for about 2 years now. DC

the denver zoo has one solitary hb and has had it for several years probably 3-4. JK

Click amphibia, then click the letter C and it will give you every genus of every amphibian that starts with a C.

That is where I got the information, however it is an incomplete list. Some institutions do not have there current info listed.

St. Louis Zoo has one on display, and I belive others for work on captive propagation.

i was detroit zoo today and there is three!!! theres also one at toledo
